H. J. Rankin House. 1900
Two-story frame Victorian house with vinyl siding and an asphalt-shingle hip roof. The two-tier front porch has a wide first tier with turned posts and balusters and turned and sawn brackets, and a narrower second tier with the same details plus a spindle frieze. The porch also has a pedimented gable with fish scale wood shingles and a small Palladian window. Other features include a brick foundation and interior chimney, a front entry with transom and sidelights and a decorative surround, 1/1 windows, and a two-tier back porch with a screened first tier and posts, sawn brackets, and rectangular-section balusters on the upper tier. A decorative iron fence and gate manufactured by the Stewart Iron Works extends across the front of the lot.
