Crompton-Shenandoah Plant: historic textile factory complex located at Waynesboro, Virginia

This Waynesboro factory complex, also called The Mill at South River, was built in stages between 1926 and 1948 to dye and finish gray corduroy and velveteen cloth. It grew to include two main plant buildings plus support structures such as a machine shop, boiler house, laboratory, offices and a retail store. The factory shut down in the 1980s along with most of its parent company's plants, and the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
