From the National Register nomination
The 1911 two-story, wood-frame with weatherboard early 20th Century American Movement house sits on a limestone foundation under a complex slate roof with projecting gables. The building has 1,436 square feet, which is consistent with scale and massing within the neighborhood. The façade of the building features a two-bay arrangement with a two-story projection with a front-facing gable on the east half of the façade, a paired wood columned pedimented portico on the west half of the façade that leads to the off-center front door with an intact fanlight and sidelights. Windows throughout are one-over-one, double-hung, wood-sash windows. There is a central interior brick chimney. There is a one-story, wood-frame shed to the south of the primary resource. There is also an outbuilding to the south of the primary resource that has been assigned a separate VDHR #: 115-5001-0176, as it has a separate address of 279 ½ Newman Avenue. The house style and materials choice are representative of the neighborhood, and the house follows setback from the street typical of the neighborhood.
